PLOMER CUP COMPETITION RULES

(AS AMENDED 8TH NOVEMBER 2007) 

1.         The competition shall be run as a league with clubs competing on a home and away basis.

2.         Matches shall be played with five rinks with at least one lady in each four/triple.    

            NB Matches may be a combination of fours/triples, depending on players available and agreement by both Captains.

3.         When clubs, which are also members of the Manchester Unity League, play each other, the match shall be played with five triples.

4.         The visiting team shall have the right to the jack at all matches. All rinks shall be drawn at random with the exception of the two Captain’s rinks, who will play against each other.

5.         Scoring shall be as follows:

                        Winning Rink              2 Points

                        Drawn Rink                 1 Point

                        Overall Win                 2 Points

                        Overall draw                1 Point

                        N.B. Maximum Points 12.

6a.       A player who is a member of two clubs that are both in the Plomer Cup may only be selected for one of those Plomer Cup clubs for all competition games. The player must nominate which club he or she wishes to play for at the beginning of the season.

6b.       Should any team be one or more players short of the number required, the points for the rink or rinks not played and an additional five shots per rink shall be added to the non-defaulting team’s score.

7a.       Providing an average of ten ends per rink has been bowled in a match that is then abandoned, the scores at that point shall provide the result.

7b.       If less than an average of ten ends per rink have been bowled when play is abandoned, the fixture shall be re-arranged. Should re-arrangement not be possible the match points shall be shared equally between the clubs.

7c.       Should a match not start due to bad weather or other unforeseen circumstances, an attempt to re-arrange the fixture should be made. If re-arrangement fails, the points shall be shared equally between the clubs.

7d.       A club failing to fulfil an arranged or re-arranged fixture shall concede all the match points plus 25 shots to the non-defaulting club.

8.         Each club shall contribute £5 per annum to the club responsible for the administration of the league.

9.         After each match, a certificate, signed by both Captains, showing details of the match shall be sent by the home Captain to the League Secretary.

10.       A meeting shall be held at the end of the playing season to review and discuss the future season. The Secretary shall call a meeting and participating clubs shall be entitled to send two representatives to attend and vote. A simple majority shall suffice for rule amendment. The Plomer Cup holder shall bring to this meeting the trophy for display.

11.       The Secretary shall maintain a true record of receipts and expenditure for the current year and shall produce a simplified balance sheet at the Annual Meeting.
