Bowls Marking Course

A number of club members today attended a marking course run under the auspices of the English Bowls Umpires Association. Our course leader was Dave Fowler, the County Umpires Co-ordinator, who ran an extremely informative and worthwhile day in a very relaxed atmosphere.

The morning consisted of a series of theoretical quizes to test and inform our knowledge of the rules relating to the duties of a competition marker, followed by an afternoon session out on the green to put the theory into context.

At the end of the day Dave awarded all participants with a "Certificate of Attendance" to show attendance at "a course in the theory and practical application of marking a game of bowls".

Thank you Dave for a super day!

Congratulations to Peter Watkins' rink for scoring a "Hotshot" (winning all 8 shots) during Sunday's friendly match with Wokingham.

Beside Peter the other players on the rink were Brian Davis, John Wingrove & Pam Beck.

Well done Team!!

Race Night Pledges

The collection of pledges from members who are sponsoring races and owning horses on Race Night will begin on Monday 21st July.

By design this coincides with the Dick Bishop Club Competition, which many of you will attend, so don't forget to bring sufficient cash!!

Would anyone not attending Dick Bishop who needs to donate please approach me separately.
